Why Dan Kennedy Is the Biggest Influence on My Business

Every serious business owner eventually traces their success back to fundamentals.
For me, that trail led to Dan Kennedy.
My entrepreneurial journey originally started with discovering Alex Hormozi, who referenced Dan Kennedy more than once. That led me to learning about Russell Brunson, who openly credits Dan Kennedy as the source of everything he learned about marketing.
That’s when it clicked: all roads lead to Dan Kennedy.
There’s a reason he’s called the Godfather of Direct Response Marketing. He’s been teaching the same core principles for nearly 50 years—long before social media, funnels, or algorithms—and nearly every modern marketing “guru” is simply repackaging ideas they learned from him.

I started buying as many Dan Kennedy books as I could find and subscribed to his No B.S. Magnetic Marketing newsletter—what he calls a “seminar in a box.” When I received my first issue in 2023, I made a promise to my wife Ashley: one day, I will be featured in this newsletter.
In May 2024, I attended Super Conference in Dallas. Three full days of pure, no-fluff marketing education from some of the sharpest direct response minds in the world—including Dan Kennedy and Russell Brunson. That conference changed the trajectory of my business.

It was there that I made the decision to write my book. Dan has always taught that becoming an author is one of the fastest ways to establish authority in your market.
Thirty days after that conference, my book was published.
Super Conference also introduced me to a network I never expected to be part of—old-school direct response marketers, many of whom are former or current clients of Dan Kennedy and alumni of his Titanium Mastermind groups. These are people who have generated millions by applying the fundamentals consistently.
Today, I’m in a Mastermind alongside them—learning, refining, and growing as a business owner and leader.
One Dan Kennedy quote I repeat constantly is:
“Your most valuable asset in your business is your customer list.”
That principle alone has reshaped how I run both Salazar Scoops and Poop Scoops For Noobs.
I’ve had the opportunity to ask Dan Kennedy direct questions inside his Diamond Level Membership about growing my service business and my education brand. I’ve consumed hundreds of hours of his material—many of them multiple times.
Sometimes you do get to meet your hero.
He is, without question, the single biggest influence on my growth as an entrepreneur.
